Happy Halloween

Looking for ways to use up your pumpkin flesh after carving your scary pumpkins.

Why not take a look at my delicious recipe for Pumpkin and ginger cupcakes.

This is the recipe that won a competition and was also featured in the fundraising book by Macmillan ‘The little book of treats’.

Justin Bieber cake.

28 Oct

A Birthday cake for a girl who is a huge fan of Justin Bieber and also likes zebra print patterns.

Coral calla lilies Wedding cake.

28 Oct

The bottom tier of this cake was a fruit cake covered in marzipan and then fondant icing. The top two tiers were vanilla sponge cake, filled with jam and buttercream and also covered in fondant icing. The calla lilies were handmade out of icing and were in a coral shade to match the wedding colours.

Starwars giant cupcake.

24 Oct

This has got to be my all time most favourite Giant cupcake that i have ever made. The bottom of the cupcake (the cupcake liner cake) was covered in icing and then sprayed with edible silver shimmer spray for a more metallic appearance. As the cake was for a girl i piped a rose swirl design all over the top of the cake using blue buttercream. Silver stars and edible images were used to decorate the top of the cake, which was then finished off with lots of edible glitter.

Tiffany Box style wedding cake.

24 Oct

I made this wedding cake in the style of Tiffany boxes, as requested by the bride to match her wedding colours. The 3 tier cakes were all chocolate cake with a rich chocolate buttercream filling and covered in sugarpaste icing. The bows and roses were also handmade out of icing. This is the rose and bow detail on the box lid.

The bride had the cake topper shipped over from America and it looked truly stunning, the photograph really does not do it justice. The gorgeous topper put the finishing touches to the cake perfectly.

Amazing Pumpkins!

23 Oct

Well it’s getting to that time of year again when the pumpkin carving kit comes out. As i am still trying to decide what to carve this year i have been searching the internet for ideas. Last year i did this spongebob pumpkin that won me a huge bag of Halloween goodies courtesy of Asda as previously shown here in last years Halloween antics post. This year i am just so undecided on what to do so if anyone has any ideas of what i should attempt to carve on my pumpkin this year please feel free to leave me a comment below.

Anyway before i get side tracked and start babbling on even more, i will get back on track now, where was i…oh yes that’s right. I was searching the internet for ideas when i came across some of the most amazing pumpkin carving i have even seen in my life. So although this post is not cake related i thought i would share with you all anyway so you can appreciate the amazing skills of this very talented artist.

Formula 1 racing car cake.

23 Oct

This cake was also a first for me as i had never made a car shaped cake before, let alone a Formula 1 racing car. The cake was a vanilla sponge cake with strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream for the filling. The cake was then shaped to resemble a car and covered in red fondant icing. The wheels of the car were formed from rice krispie treats and also covered in fondant icing.

Make way for Noddy.

23 Oct

I made this cake back in April for a little boy who was celebrating his 2nd Birthday. It was the 1st time i have made a Noddy themed cake and was happy with the way it turned out. I think i mostly enjoyed making Noddy driving his little car ( both were made out of icing ).

Ruby Wedding anniversary cake.

23 Oct

This ruby wedding anniversary cake was made to celebrate 40 years of marriage.

I love the look of this cake so pretty and elegant with only a hint of colour.

I think it took somewhere around the region of 300 of the tiny roses to cover the cake. The cake flavours were as follows, the bottom tier was fruit cake, the middle tier was chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream and the top-tier was cherry and coconut cake.

Just catching up.

23 Oct

Hi guys, Sorry i haven’t updated my blog for so long. I have just been so busy over the last few months and don’t really seem to have had much time to even stop for breath. What with decorating the whole house ( yes this is an ongoing project that still is not finished, boo hoo!). I have also set up my own business so i have been pretty busy with that too, which i might just add is not cake related either. I decided to keep the cakes as a hobby for a little longer although the end goal is still the same, i want to own and run my own cake business and one day have my own cakey premises. Speaking of cakes that is the third thing that has also been taking my time up. I had a short break of about 6-8 weeks from cake decorating but now i am back and will be sharing all of my cake creations with you once again.
