Amazing Pumpkins!

23 Oct

Well it’s getting to that time of year again when the pumpkin carving kit comes out. As i am still trying to decide what to carve this year i have been searching the internet for ideas. Last year i did this spongebob pumpkin that won me a huge bag of Halloween goodies courtesy of Asda as previously shown here in last years Halloween antics post. This year i am just so undecided on what to do so if anyone has any ideas of what i should attempt to carve on my pumpkin this year please feel free to leave me a comment below.

Anyway before i get side tracked and start babbling on even more, i will get back on track now, where was i…oh yes that’s right. I was searching the internet for ideas when i came across some of the most amazing pumpkin carving i have even seen in my life. So although this post is not cake related i thought i would share with you all anyway so you can appreciate the amazing skills of this very talented artist.

Red Dead Redemption, Undead nightmare cake.

11 Feb

Well here it is! The cake that has been keeping me really busy for the last couple of days and let me tell you i absolutely loved every minute of it.

The zombie arm, John Marston’s hat ( he is the main character in the game, if you are unfamiliar with it), the undead bait bottles (Nigel West Dickens Elixir) and the Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare game case were all made out of cake. The pistol gun, bullets, stick of dynamite and the rope that’s around the zombies arm, were all made out of fondant/sugarpaste icing. Everything on this cake and covering the board is 100% edible.

Sweet Reading

7 Jan

I absolutely love to get new Cupcake and cake decorating books, even more so when i have them bought for me. So you can imagine my excitement when this year for Christmas  i got 3 Cupcake books, all of which i have had my eye on for a while. Let me tell you i was very excited indeed.

Drum roll please………

and here they are, the new additions to the Sweet Sassy book shelf.

Planet Cake Cupcakes, Paris Cutler.

I really can’t wait to try some of the things in this book. At first glance this book seems full of good ideas and also has some very cute things in it aswell, cute is good, right.

If you are still looking for cute you certainly won’t find it in the next 2 books i received. If however you are after something a little darker with a bit of gross and gore thrown in, then these are the perfect books to go for.

Zombie Cupcakes, Zilly Rosen.

As if the ideas alone aren’t enough, this book has lots of recipes in and the cherry on my cake just had to be the Zombie Trivia that is dotted on occasional pages throughout the book. You can’t go far wrong with a bit of Zombie trivia. It made my day anyway.

Last but not least, my final book and another firm favourite is

A Zombie ate my Cupcake, Lily Vanilli.

Another book with great ideas, yummy sounding recipes, lots of weirdness and gore galore.

Sadly i haven’t had chance yet to try out anything from these books but hopefully i will get chance shortly. As soon as i do i will blog about it, post pictures and let you all know how i got on making them.

Zombie themed cupcakes.

If you are hoping to see nice cute Halloween cupcakes then you won’t be finding them on this particular post. Infact, this post and these cupcakes are definitely not for the faint hearted. If you are looking for gross cupcakes featuring blood, gore and severed body parts then you are in the right place….Welcome.

Don’t say you weren’t warned. You chose to ignore the warning signs!

You could clearly see there had been some kind of struggle.

( Vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream, topped with a fondant icing knife and drizzled in blood)

of course it’s not real blood…..honest!

You found evidence of something quite gruesome when you found these severed digits.

So quite clearly you should have known, it was only a matter of time before you came across the

I am really going to miss these guys!

All packaged nice and secure inside a cupcake box, ready to be delivered to my brother and his wife. These cupcakes are an early Halloween surprise, hope they like them.
